Matters of the Heart 12

FEBRUARY IS HEART MONTH

I noticed what you are wearing and drew a picture in my mind. I see how you present yourself in public and formed an opinion based on what is visible to me. Because of where we met, I have formed a preconceived idea of the type of person you are.

You can’t judge a book by it’s cover. Have you ever picked up a book based on the cover and not the title? How often are we surprised by what’s inside the cover. People surprise us all the time. Maybe not in the first or second chapter, but around chapter 13 they show up. The real you.

We have the capacity to change a little everyday. You are not the same person you were last year. You are older and hopefully wiser. What is on the outside is not always what’s inside. People will judge you based on what is seen. You have to spend time with someone to really know their heart.

This is nothing new. In the word of God he makes a statement on what can be seen: 1 Samuel 16:7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”
